Best Prom Flicks
I was doing my usual surfing stuff when I came across this interesting
“Best Prom Scenes of all Time.” It is actually a collection of
pictures taken from some movies and dramas that have prom stories.
Since I don’t know some of them I am not going to mention them here
anymore. Anyway my agenda would be how prom dresses evolve; from not
so distant past up to now. Some of those who made it are, Twilight of
course. Remember the ending scene when Bella Swan takes the dance
floor with her vampire boyfriend. I don’t think people noticed her
gown because the scene itself is even catchier. Then there’s the
well-known High School Musical 3. I’m a fan of High School Musical and
I love all their clothes and fashion style especially Ashley Tisdale’s
role as Sharpay Evans. The last third movie’s wardrobes are among the
best and flashy short prom gowns I’ve seen so far. There’s also the
Prom Night, a 2008 horror flick about a senior who survived a terrible
tragedy. I don’t find the movie appealing and their gowns are the
typical long gowns with plunging necklines, and some beads. One of the
pictures that made my day was Drew Barrymore’s Never Been Kissed. If
you could still remember how geek she was in that film, then what
you’re seeing now from her is a real transformation. Also in the list
is one of those romantic comedy teen movies that caught my interest,
10 Things I Hate About You. Those were the days when Heath Ledger was
starting to gain stardom, in a role of a new kid in town. I never
really like Julia Stiles, I don’t like her fashion statement but her
acting, hands down, is really brilliant. Her prom dress in that movie
was a boring dark dress that resembled much of a sleepwear; thanks to
her not so cool tiara for the accent. The gowns used in Romy and
Michele’s High School Reunion (1997). The tandem of Mira Sorvino and
Lisa Kudrow wearing super shimmery, brilliant and vivid short prom
dresses with matching colorful clunky clogs. It’s true that fashion
never relinquishes because nowadays these clogs are getting into the
lime light again as well as the shimmery clothes. And to top them all,
are the set of ladies in Mean Girls. These mean and fashion savvy
girls just proved that pink really is pretty. I’m still looking
forward to the next prom movie. I wonder how prom dresses 2010 would
look like.
